This is clear example of un-holy nexus among the pharma companies and the doctors. Pharma companies are known for showering the gifts. Most of the tangible and non-tangible items include the foreign travels as well which are solely sponsored by the pharma companies. The recent conference on such issues revealed many other factors. The conflict of interest is surely there if a doctor prescribes you the medicines which are not suitable to you but gives some commission to the doctor. There are no laws which would prevent a doctor from receiving the gifts or cash from pharma companies. The code of conduct for the doctors must be revised and the governments need to keep a watch on such mal-practices because it increases the cost of healthcare which are already at the peak. The doctors must be required to maintain the distance from pharma companies and the practices which hamper the trust of patients in them.
